Introduction to the Flexicult™ SSI-Urinary Test.

What is the Flexicult™ SSI-Urinary Test?

The FLEXICULT™ test is an overnight culture based test for the diagnosis of uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI). In addition to culturing of bacteria (bacteria quantitation), the antibiotic susceptibility  of the pathogenic bacteria can be determined.

The test is made by the Statens Serum Institut, Copenhagen, Denmark. (http://www.ssi.dk/English.aspx)

Where can the test be used?

The test is designed to be used in the primary care site (e.g. GP surgery) where a patient consults for an uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI).

Who can use the test:

Any clinician or practice nurse providing they have been trained in the use of the test and interpretation of the test results.
